Somalis hail from Saamale and Sab

Russians, Poles and Czechs hail from three brothers (the Russians from Rus, the Poles from Lech and the Czechs from Chech).

Romans come from Romanus.

What about the Horn of Africa? Does everyone have a collective of origin stories that originate at one place?

No. There are no common origin stories in the horn but there are similarities in culture and stories. For example almost every cushitic speaking people have a craweelo like story, a man on a tree and some even have a story of qori ismaris. Slavic people in terms of genetics and culture are much more closer together than cushites people. There are some funny origin stories i've read though.

I’ve also heard of the story of Itiyopp'is and Sabthecha both sons of the Biblical Cush. According to the myth, Itiyopp'is built the obelisks of Axum (Ethiopia & Eritrea) to mark his allotted territory given to him by his father and was eventually buried there. And Sabthecha left his family to go seek out new lands for his descendants eventually arriving in modern day Somalia. If Sabthecha sounds familiar it’s because of the Sab & Samaale founding myth of the Somalis. I could only find the story about Sab but not Samaale. It’s in the Hebrew Bible!

@seldiboy. What do you think about this? Have you heard of it before?

Never heard of it. Mythology isn’t really a big part of our culture to be honest. People prefer folk stories
I see, but that isn’t too surprising. I remembered this story from before in a book call the “Book of Aksum”. Which talked about Itiyopp'is and vaguely mentioned his brother Sabthecha.
