You forgot all the cities where the diaspora live and who make up 10-20% of the Somali population.

From Dar es salaam Tanzania to Toronto and even Kuala Lumpur Malaysia.

Ballots within war torn Somalia could be corrupted but it'll be hard to f*ck around with the votes in London etc.

Doubt they have resources to conduct polls around the globe, maybe absentee ballots?

Anyways tbh who cares about Diaspora? We got it good already, this is more about the people's concerns who actually live there.

Main costs in Somalia's case is security.

If you don't have to worry about that then the diaspora themselves could raise the funds to pay for it.

$10 per voter should do.

You can rent out multiple conference facilities for 5-10k each for a full day if it's not a busy season.

Each facilities could easily handle thousands of voters in a major city.

You only need to cover cities with a decent Somali population.

2,000 voters donating $5-$20 each = 10-40k

Enough to book some decent sized locations and maybe even cover all the other expenses.

Right, but I think securing polling sites on the mainland will take priority in this election cycle. No need to complicate with timezones and all that across the globe.

In the list you created at most we'd be safely able to vote in Garowe and maybe Kismayo.

Even the capital Xamar seems like a daunting task to secure.

Smaller towns and villages are a no go.

So what percentage of the population do we end up covering in this scenario?

Just 10,000 old men again?

I think Muqdisho is definitely feasible, they seem to have security there under control as there have been no reports of incidents in the last 6 months or so. Compare that to 2018 when it seemed like it was daily.

Bro do you think people are dumb. Abdirahman abdishakuur and Madasha already said farmajos mandate ends at the end of his term and if there is no election there is no president. 1 man 1 vote is not possible at this time it’s a ploy to waste time than ask for an extension.

I don't buy that, if it can be done in Syria and Afghanistan then its doable here.

I think Somalia needs a monarchy that rules with the Sharia. A monarchy with advisers so that it would be competent. I don't care what clan the royal family comes from, Somalis would have to obey their rulers.

In Syria they’ve had no election they’ve had a sham election in Damascus which is totally safe.

There is no real election in Afghanistan either. The qabils that are taliban are not voting and theyre close to taking the whole country back.

That will never work. It will have open rebellion from every clan apart from the clan of the Boqor and will collapse.

What a delusional thread. There won’t be any democratic elections, if you haven’t noticed Halane the most secure place in Mogadishu isn’t even safe.

This guy has to be a troll the mayor and more than half his administration were literally killed within the last 6 months and of course the recent killing of Almaas AUN.

Somalia with honest people in charge can do it easily, it will be funded by the West but everyone has to respect the process.

If Somaliland did it in 2012 before Kulmiye ruined the country so can everyone.

I miss this Somaliland, where we were on top tribalism want as rice and everyone respected the system regardless of association

Best part when someone wants permission to drive on election Day because he knows someone and grinning turned down (won't happen now)

Video is on how the 2012 local elections happened behind the scenes
