Khadija Mahamoud 'Qalanjo' was born in Harawo, Ethiopia to an ethnic Reer Mahamoud Jibril Younis Gadabursi father and Habesha Amhara mother. She then moved to Borama where her music career kicked off. She was a regular on Radio Hargeisa and then joined the Waberi band. After her illustrious career and the Somali civil war, she left the country and then came back in the 2020's to Borama where she passed away around a month/2 months ago.
