Finding myself

I’ve taking some time to reflect on my lifestyle these past months and realized what pointless things that I’ve been doing. I used to feel the need to go out every week to party, have meaningless sex, hang around people that didn’t really help me succeed/be better in anyway. My education hasn’t really suffered because of this, but I have because of unnecessary stress to finish an assignment the last day because I was having fun the other days.

I took it upon me to change my ways and try to lead a more healthy and enjoyable lifestyle. And the biggest obstacle I’m facing is discipline, but it’s getting better gradually.

Changes I’ve made so far:
Study 30-40h/week
Read a book of my choice
Cut out some friends
Sleep 8h
Meditate for 15 min in the morning

I know I’ve only made some small changes, but you got to start somewhere. Have any of you guys gone through something similar to this? It would help a lot to hear about others journey as well.

That's good. Especially cutting off useless friends.

Meditate?

Why not pray salah

What book u readin
I’m currently reading “The power of self-discipline” by Brian Tracy.

I’m not a Muslim sxb. I use meditating to just relax in the morning and it’s quite refreshing actually

Ooh that's a good read. Discipline is foundational, I like how he breaks it down.

Lool, there isn’t any juicy story behind it unfortunately. I just had a long conversation with my big bro and he opened my eyes.

Well you meditate you should repeate, Subhan-Allah Al-hamdulillah Allahu Akbar, over and over again. I meditate for 10 minutes after every prayer in the day. You should too. Its very relaxing and gets you closer to Allah.

I went exactly through this myself. I had to learn to discipline myself little by little cutting out certain habits. I also had to cut out friends who just like to party cause they weren't taking me far in life. Its going to be hard cause you will sacrifice things at first but you will get there.

With the party friends, ask them to go out with you on a day that's inconvenient for them. See what they say.

If they can't make it, there's your answer. Never prioritise a person who makes you an option. And most importantly, never feel the need to justify yourself being busy. If they can't make it, why should you have to free up your time for them? True friends are low maintenance. Only link up when there's a mutual interest.

The funniest thing about baashaal is that you only think it's enjoyable, but go out of town without the mandem and see the difference, ain't no way you'd walk into a club by yourself or beg friend someone to wing you.
