I think with more UN funding, 99% of Madows would return home. South Somalia is the worst place on earth to be Madow. Tanzania is much safer and they are historically connected to that land.

I really believe that every person is naturally drawn to their ancestral home. For example, I was born and raised in the west but I want to eventually go home. If Somalia was better than the west then I would have left long ago.

The Madows are in that position so I think the only thing preventing them from going home is lack of the kind of funding/support that the people in this article received.

First of all their is no official number of bantu in somalia in 1990 there was less than 80,000 i dont know how it flew to a million, plus they live in two or three towns in somalia it can never house a million people,but that is not imporntant coz their is no official censurs that have taken place since the civil war,they were being relocated until US took them in as refugee and made it difficult to finish the procedure of relocation to the homeland.

I think you're right. People throw around the 1 million number and explain it by saying they live on the most fertile land but Madows are not that good at farming. They are subsistence farmers and can only grow enough for their family to survive. They have never been able to fully reap the benefits of living on the wealthiest real estate in Somalia.

They are also known for being bad at business/money and their short sightedness (common across Bantu cultures). I cannot imagine their population ballooning like that, especially with the decades of conflict/instability in that region.

Good thing is their ancestral homeland is advanced and one of the top developing countries in Africa i think why stay in country which is not yours if the people dont like you when your homeland and ancesters live is far much developed in Tanzania.
I think the government should talk to the Tanzanian government so as they could go to Tanzania and live peacefully with their tribesmen and brethren free without injustice,problem solved.
