God Almighty said: (Men are guardians of women by what God has preferred one another over one another and by what they spent of their money) Al-Nisa / 34.

Al-Qurtubi, may God have mercy on him, said:

The Almighty said: “Men are the stewards of women” that is: they spend on them and forgive them, and also: among them are rulers, princes and those who invade, and that is not in the women.

Ibn Kathir, may God have mercy on him, said:

That is, the man is the guardian of the woman, that is, he is her boss, her elder, the judge over her, and her disciplinarian if she is crooked.

None of these passages directly forbids women from holding positions of power. Being a guardian or provider of women does not equal being forbid from holding power. You’re trying to correlate two things that are not related. If women can’t hold positions of power none of the women Angelina mentioned or Ayesha and many other women throughout Islamic history would’ve hold positions.

We are not debating about rulership here. I'm fully aware that a woman is not allowed to be a president. Majority of scholars have that opinion so i'm not debating with you over something that is part of islam.

However, I fail to see how being part of parliament and being a minister has anything to do with that when the main controller of markets in Mekkah and Medina were women. Being a minister is clearly different to be a being the ruler or vice ruler ect.

Women being in parliament is already controversial, so having a female president will unleash the anger of the Ulema. But we live in unpredictable times. I would say Pakistanis are more conservative than Somalis, but they had a female president and the people seemed to accept it in time. So who knows?
