Federalism is bad for Somalia

Have you ever been back home?

If you have talked to people in Somalia, you can see they have moved on
. It is us in the diaspora who have left Somalia due to clan warfare and have not processed it yet that are full of hatred and mistrust.
Are sure on this? These are Somaliland youths in big 2021.

Man those are clout chasers and even if they were genuine, a small minority. Not gonna watch the video to even give them the views but I can gauge their position from the thumbnail.

The ambition is make sure this minority do not become a majority.

You really think PL/JL will dismantle their military to allow some elai soldiers to walk in their lands with guns

This point of view is the crux of the problem. There are no real, substantive differences between these two groups, but they still see each other as distinct peoples. Unless we can move past our parochial, artificial divisions any attempt to build a modern nation state is doomed to fail.

How about we forget this failed colonial project? How many more years do you want us to all suffer? No system will work.
How about we join Ethiopia because we will be under there control if we leave the project of Somalia

We've had this discussion before, Somalia is not a "colonial project":
Read Africa's First Democrats by Abdi Ismail Samatar. Somalia was created by the Somali Youth League; a cross-clan political party founded in 1943. They were influenced by the likes of Mohammed Abdullah Hassan, Sheikh Hassan Barsane, and other Somali figures fighting for our nationhood. It was the SYL which conceptualised Greater Somalia; a unification of all Somali-speaking territories. The idea that Somalia was created by colonial authorities is nothing more than a qabilist lie.

Somalis have been resisting African and European attempts to subjugate their peninsula since the late nineteenth century. As the anti-colonisation movement grew and matured, the idea to unify all Somalis into a single state was popularised and subsequently adopted. I understand you are a committed qabilist but distorting the historical record to fit your agenda is contemptible. You risk casting Somalis as a people without agency when this is so far from the truth.

I couldn't agree more. I believe qabil/tribalism is the greatest threat the Somali people face. If we do not move past it, like much of the world has, we will be left behind. A collection of perpetually bickering clan states, more concerned about intra-clan rivalries, and unable to form a united front for their common interests, is our enemies' dream scenario. But how we do so is beyond me.

I donโ€™t believe federalism is the issue, itโ€™s involving destructive clan politics in to the mixture that creates problem and becomes an obstacle to growth. A person should get a position based on qualification and not lineage. I hope we correct this and I am sure we will :)

Yes itโ€™s a colonial project, we had nothing to do with each other prior their arrival. Thier presence is what forced us to form an ill fated union. Donโ€™t give me we are the same people crap

Gtfoh, I've seen you cheerleading FKD. We didn't believe you when you were pretending to be a nationalist during N&N and we don't believe you now. You are shameless.

This is the second time you have accused me of being a qabilist. Like I said before, my profile is public and you can use the comment search function above: show me proof that I have engaged in FKD.

I have always called for the removal of qabil from our society and for Somalis to put their ethnic/national identity before their tribe. This is one of my first posts I made in this forum. You still think this is a "ruse"?

Bro, they're lying. Anytime someone unaffected by the qabil mind-virus comes along, they accuse them of them of one of two things:
  1. a laangaab.
  2. a crypto-qabilist.
It's all projection.

There's plenty of examples where you are cheerleading FKD.

People like @Alhazred hide behind nationalism to elevate their poor position, a position of their own making. They should go back to their villages and develop them instead of preaching cause we don't believe it.

so where is your position in this matter :farmajoyaab:

I am for the system there is now which is clan federalism. Everyone should go back to where they came from. I am for institutionalizing the political reality which is clanism cause it brings relative stability. We are not mature or trustworthy to centralize power. It is up to future generations to correct it once we no longer have a need for it.
