Hargeisa makes more sense as the capital of Somalia for its proximity to the Gulf of Aden. Most regional players beyond Ethiopia are located in that direction. Mogadishu is a little too far removed. It can still be a major commercial and military hub. The move might as well patch up regional relationships within Somalia.

Look at Istanbul. It used to be the capital of the Ottoman Empire. The Turks have moved their capital to Ankara. Istanbul is still the biggest city in Turkey and a de facto commercial and financial center of their country.

If Hargeisa is such a no no for the Federal member states, we might look into setting up a brand new capital city at the northeastern tip of Somalia close to Ufeyn.

How though?
FMS and Somaliland bad blood stems from 30 years. I don't think when Bixii eventually leaves office that anything would change from that.

As I said before let's keep it in Mogadishu as all FMS agree on that.

I am just hoping the young progressing generation eventually comes to power across all of Somalia and put differences and historical grievances aside for the common good. I might be naive but this COVID-19 global collapse has thought me to not be so sure that I am right and can foresee future through knowledge, logic and experience. All of it can go out of the window in an instance.

I see you have genuine good intentions and you're an optimist. I'm a realist I say what I see.

I do hope whatever happens that Somalis can get along in whatever scenario the future holds.
