Fasting the first 9 days of Dhul Hijja (starts this week!)

Assalamualaikum Sspot family,

We're about to come into some of the holiest days of the year which begins this week. Try to fast as many days as possible and in general do as much good deeds as you can.

The Prophet (PBUH) said, “There is no deed that is better in the sight of Allah or more greatly rewarded than a good deed done in the (first) ten days of Al-Adha”. It was asked, “Not even Jihad for the sake of Allah?” The Prophet (PBUH) replied, “Not even Jihad for the sake of Allah, unless a man goes out himself for Jihad taking his wealth with him and does not come back with anything.” Narrated by Al-Bukhari

And even if you're not down to fast the first 8 days, try to at least fast the 9th day which is the day of 'Arafa.

The Prophet
peace be up on him, pbuh
used to fast on the ninth day of Dhul-Hijja and he said: “Fasting the Day of ‘Arafah (ninth Dhul-Hijja) is an expiation for (all the sins of) the previous year and expiation for (all the sins of) the coming year.” (Muslim)

The reward is simply too great to miss out fasting on this day.

Verify with your local community but inshaAllah Dhul Hijja will begin either Tuesday, July 21st or Wednesday, July 22nd.

Allah SWT knows best and may He accept all of our good intentions and actions. Ameen.
