Once you put aside their religious opinions , you realise Louis Farrakhan and Dr Umar Johnson are such great people.

They are very knowledgable and wise, which is very rare within ethnic minorities.

Somalis need to start listening to them, especially to Farrakhan. This is the only way the new wave of white supremacy within the Somali community will die out.

Abaayo, can you stop this white supremacy bullshit? It doesn't exist.

Farrakhan is a gaal part of the nation of Islam and Dr Umar Johnson is serving interest for his people. We have nothing to do with African Americans or their problem.

Somalis are suffering from their own problem with the help from their enemies like Ethiopia, Kenya and Gulf states that is trying to keep Somalia destabilized along with tribalism.

Somalis have their own to solve. We should not associate with the people you have listed. Care about your own people first before you decide to care about others.

Its never 2 way street where they concern themselves with our shit. Its always the somali promoting and fighting for the AA cause.

You can’t say that the black conscious community have not helped Somalis in the west. The place I’m from the first Somali community centre was opened up because of a black nationalists who wanted to help Somalis who had just flee from the civil war.

However I do understand what you guys are saying because all black nationalists would prioritise Ethiopians over Somalis anyday.
But Somalis who want to stay in the west due to a lack of Somalinimo should align themselves with the black conscious as they have no reason not to. It would even help them as these communities are the only ones who would be willing to protect your rights.

Lol white supremacy does exist all over the world. But I didn’t expect Somalis to become so indoctrinated over a small period of time, I thought we have more pride.

What do you mean lack of somalinimo? Do you mean culturally? Also why are these black groups so focused on race issues only? Why not the issues within black community like black on black crime, out of wedlock childbirth, the fall of family values?

I’m mean lack of nationalism in general.

And the black conscious community does focus on their own problems lol. I can tell you haven’t listened to Dr Umar Johnson or Farrakhan before.

I have listened to dr umar. I like some of what he says and other things are too extreme. But if they focus on their own community. What good does it for a somali? One can lack nationalism....doesnt mean he has to jump on the AA community and identify with them

You don’t need to identify with African Americans but if a Somali isn’t a nationalist, they usually consider themselves black.
In my opinion, it’s better for that person to align themselves with conservative black nationalists rather than liberal groups such as BLM.

true, I have far more respect for black conservatives than blm nonsense. But keep in mind Farakhan believes elijah mohamed was a prophet and is nation of islam. The same people who killed malcom x when he discovered true Islam. So I dont know how one can be a muslim and align themselves with someone like him

I said put aside his religous opinions and align yourself with him for only social matters, just like people already do with secular political parties. I am not advocating NOI.

but most somalis are even more conservative than him on social issues. And how can we align ourselves with him when he is preaching to his community unless we join the community. We have people in our community who says same things, maybe we should uplift their message. I just dont see how you can align yourselves with them unless you give up something for it.

Umm Somalis seem to be losing their conservatism. It’s the elder generations who are still traditional. Millennials onwards are all brainwashed retards who are accepting of everything and everyone.

And I’m yet to see a person who has such a massive platform who only talks about Somalis and Somalia, our history and culture.

I’m not saying everyone should align themselves to the black conscious community but if you plan on staying in the West, which means you will eventually lose your dhaqan, you might as well associate with black nationalists.

I see what you are saying....you are basically saying we gonna lose our dhaqan either way, so we might as well align ourselves with someone. I am saying look at pakistanis or indians, they been here far longer and havent lost their culture. Im just not accepting defeat yet. Yes our generation is confused as we have grown up with 2 cultures and all over the place. But I do feel society will become more conservative and a lot of somalis will be rejected even when we think we have assimilated as we havent done it 100%. I think this will push back our generation in the future and there will be a somali community forming out of this. People love to belong and I think these early 20s will realize when they are older that the people they thought was close to them dont really see them as one of their own.
