I’m guessing the young man was hoping to receive empathetic responses from those who share his thinking and positive encouragement too. I don’t know what he said in his initial video but it could have started a good dialogue if more mature people were viewing it.

Some people (irl and def online) lack basic naxariis or even akhlaaq. They mask their emotions or shut down everything with humor. Sometimes as a way of coping or suppressing their real emotions. They have the right to disagree with his way of handling this issue but tell him in a good way. Making fun of him isn’t gonna help his mental health.
I have seen the video and I have also seen the comments, most of the comments were people supporting him I only saw one comment of a guy saying that why is he crying with the skull emoji.
I would say that he is exaggerating a bit about the comments but its just me tho

This is very novel. Crying men are a rarity. If a man cries I assume it's rather serious. And would not fault him for it.
I am not interested in nimaan with active social media accounts who overshare. I value privacy. So the buck stops there. So I doubt such a scenario would play itself out.
