Farmaajo was just a great con-artist like all populist in the world. He played the wadani and gave people hope with his unrealistic promises he could never deliver on like "we will defeat al shabaab in 2 years", "we will kick out amisom", "we will be like Denmark when my term ends". Most somalis have some semblance of somalinimo and dream of a united stable country, so when a populist comes along who promises them easy solutions, many get easily fooled.
