I've told my parents that I'd prefer a Somali but I'm not going to just not talk to anyone non-somali.

There are a plethora of terrible relationships between 1st generation western somali couples who are only together because they are both somali.

This expectation that 1st gen Somalis who are born into a mixture and hodgepodge of different ethnicities which is the west, to only marry and look out for Somalis is so unrealistic.

To Parents: If you expectation was for your kids to only talk, associate with Somalis, then you shouldn't have moved to the west

What's unrealistic is him claiming marrying one's ethnicity is unrealistic. And that shared ethnicity is the only dimension that one uses to assess marital prospects when there are other standards used to measure suitability beyond just that.

Don't compare the Jews to Somalis, we have a very weak Daqan which has seen the language vanishing, family's broken, Somalis change to westerners. This is only the 1 gen or second. The Jews have a strong community revived a dead language Hebrew etc.. Don't compare them to Somalis. There’s has been loads of half Jews it just takes the mother to be Jewish for you to be Jewish you just would be able to tell because most Jews in the UK or Europe are white already what your thinking about is the orthodox jewish community which keep to themselves
