The oldest instances of Ge'ez script in use are literally found in Eritrea. Regarding Axum, the ethnogenesis of the Amhara, Tigrayans and Tigrinya had not taken place yet. In essence, they were one group who spoke the language Ge'ez. I could delve further into how for the most part all three of those groups are genetically indistinguishable and separated by language but thats a different story. Also, if we followed your train of thought, Najashi would be Eritrean (Tigrinyan) since the Sahaba literally took refuge in Massawa

I don't under-estimate local oral stories becuz they don't keep stories if events didn't occur, their not that 'smart' to forge history, but I do like to balance it with external records(arab, turk, greek, roman, ancient egypt) in the absence of archaelogy and finally archaelogical. @seldiboy since ur 'kingdom' is the oldest living in the continent and yes I know it's 'tigray' cause all the oldest sites and language is there not amhara, I doubt even amhara dispute that, but what they do claim is they 'reign' the longest irrespective of how that happened lol and they think thru that right they are some 'emperor' for all sudan-somalia-ethiopia-eritre-djibouti.
