Third world shitter metric no one cares about. India's GDP is bigger than the vast majority of western countries but you aren't going to pretend its as developed or rich as any western country. GDP per capita and HDI matters far more and Ethiopia's is garbage (1,027.59, 0.492 lmao). Ethiopia's economy can continue to grow for all we care but the average Kenyan or Rwandan will still live a much better life let alone the average Egyptian. With all the issues Ethiopia is facing, it will at best end up being the East African version of Nigeria, a country that already has a comparable economy to Egypt but worse in everything else.

Not even close. Ethiopia as an economy and country is almost entirely reliant on foreign aid to stay afloat. Just recently they received a massive loan from the IMF as a result of all the bad decisions Abiy has made. Somalia may be fourth world but Ethiopia honestly isn't that far away.

If you would read deeper into the statistics you are citing you'd realize "moderate" hunger, is not an achievement to be proud of. Ethiopia is worse today, but the trajectory it's on is positive. Egypt's trajectory is dire. It can't defend its rivers, it's giving islands away to saudi, and it's giving a ras away to Abu Dhabi. Stop shaking your ass for egyptians online. That’s true. Ethiopia needs aid to live whereas Egypt uses its aid for stupid megaprojects. It’s like how a guy who uses food stamps (Ethiopia) vs a guy who spends all of his money on new lambos (Egypt) are both broke in different ways
