Ethiopian historian claims Zelia was historically habasha.

Are they the most ethnic group that falsifies history and always claims to lie? I thought that the Yemenis or the blacks were the first, but these are nothing compared to the Ethiopians
Somalis should really step up their game or at least work to country these ethiopians.

These people are truly the most shameless race to walk the African continent.

The Habesha is mad and coping. Zeila was historically an Arab city until the 19th century. But previous Muslim kingdoms in Zeila were tributaries of Abyssinia. The Muslim rulers gave gifts to maintain friendly relations and to avoid the anger of the Christian kings. Many Muslim merchants gave gifts to Christian kings in return for protection.

He's just some rando. Western academics never say Zeila was ever apart of Ethiopia.
But they use ethiopian sources sometimes as they have professors who write up these insane papers.

I remember on twitter one ethiopian source says Imam ahmad gurey was from a somali woman and a ethiopian priest

The peace agreements made between Abyssinian Kings and the Sultans were never honoured by Ifat and Adal’s generals, princes and imams, they even blocked Abyssinia from importing weapons and armour, and continuously raided deep inside the Christian heartland. The war between the Muslims led by Zayla and the Christians led by a shifting nomadic capital is probably the most violent war in medieval world history in terms of the amount of monarchs, royals and nobles dying; more Abyssinian kings died fighting Ifat and Adal in a century and half than Byzantine Emperors died fighting their enemies over the span of a thousand years.

This would be like 10 Chinese presidents dying in battle fighting Japan, and some hotep 500 years from now claiming Tokyo was once part of China.

This whole period really needs chronicles dedicated to it. we have the Futuh but it's not enough. We need more research. Hoesntly this period of the Horn is one of the most badasss periods in the world. Just war and war between Christians and Muslims.

In the end, this just resulted in 3rd party coming in and taking all the spoils.

Not just anyone, Halie salassie himself commissioned a 1k book dedicated to the lineage of Ahmad Gurey. Done by a harari scholar. Which came to the conclusion he was a Somali from Karanle clan.

Yeah which is why I don't get people calling Ifat weak. These guys took out several emperors and kept their domain mostly intact unlike the other muslim principalities that fell and were annexed by Ethiopia. IIRC, Ifat only paid tributary briefly until Haqq a Din or someone else fought back.

That speculation was already debunked. Imam Ahmed's mother was definitely Harla. His father's ethnicity is disputed, but the popular consensus among scholars is that he was either Harla or Balaw.

The ethnic composition of Zeila mainly consisted of semetic-speaking elements like the Arrogoba and the harla groups.

Well the Ethiopians themselves were pretty weak ngl, the status/prestige the Solomonic dynasty had is almost completely due to there association with the Axumite empire
