Another side point-many modern states were formed out genocide, brutal feudal policies and forced expulsions. If there was fair referendums, I am sure we would have a 100 new states forming across the world. There is really nothing whatsoever natural about many of these modern states. Many people just happen to be a part of state X because a ruler had more arms than every one else. Somali territory has always been too large and the land too harsh for a single entity to have conquered all the tribes.
