This story is not real.

The evidence which has been used in this story to scapegoat Eritrean soldiers has been writtinen in Ethiopian letters with Ethiopian calender, but they claimed it was testimony of an Eritrean soldier who did grape in Tigray.

In Eritrea we don't use the Geez orthodox calender. Ethiopians do.

The Eritrean Tigrinya alphabet is different from the Ethiopian tigrayan.

The author of this testimony was Tigrayan not Eritrean, there are no evidences that an Eritrean soldier committed this act or wrote this misleading testimony

Former Erisat journalist Zecarias Gerima states that the misleading letter, provided by The Guardian and photographer Ximena, which accuses unnamed Eritrean soldiers of raping a Tigrayan person, is not true.

THERE IS NOT NEED TO FORGE WAR CRIMES:

As evidence of the intentions of Eritrean soldiers, she presents found notes (which she claims to have been extracted from the uteruses of victims) written in the Tigrayan dialect of Tigrinya. This is lazy. She could at least have asked for a convincing forgery.

"Sons of Eritrea, we are brave," one of her notes reads. "We have committed ourselves to this, and we will continue doing it. We will make Tigrayan females infertile." Horrifyingly detailed, but very badly forged. Below, I will show only a few of the spelling and accent or dialect mistakes.

The part that says 'we will continue this' is in the Tigrayan dialect, not Eritrean. If someone from Eritrea had written it, it would read 'ክንቅጽሎ' (to continue it) instead of 'ክንቅፅለሉ' which, to Eritrean Tigrinya speakers, would mean 'we will continue doing it for him.' However, that same word, in contemporary Tigrayan Tigrinya grammar, means 'we will continue doing this.'

The second note Tess A McClure presents says: "We, the children of Asmara, are heroes. Have you forgotten what you did to us in 1990?" The year 1990 is the Ge'ez calendar equivalent of 2000 AD when Ethiopian troops invaded about a quarter of Eritrean territory and committed crimes including rape. The note refers to those crimes and uses them as a motive. There is just one thing: the Ge'ez calendar is only officially used in Ethiopia, not in Eritrea. Most Eritrean kids have never even heard that Ethiopia uses a different calendar.

The note continues: "We did not forget. From now on, no Tigrayan will give birth to another Tigrayan." Here, the word 'women' is spelled አንስትዮ, not ኣንስትዮ as is spelled in Eritrean Tigrinya. The note then promises vengeance.

Although it is clearly meant to mimic Eritrean Tigrinya, the spelling betrays the forger's incompetence. The Ge'ez letter ፀ has been dropped from use due to what was considered a redundancy, as there is another letter that represents the same sound in Tigrinya: the letter ጸ. However, this was not dropped in Tigrayan Tigrinya, and it is sometimes more common than the ጸ, which is the only one used in Eritrean Tigrinya.

Nigga, I was being bombastic with the Neolithic thing. Europeans were doing things just as bad or worse as anything in Africa during our grandparents' generation and still are in places like Eastern Europe. Even the most civilized modern people are one civil war away from doing things like this. Don't kid yourself.

A 52-year-old woman was taken by Russian soldiers in occupied Izium and repeatedly raped while her husband was beaten. She, along with her husband, was arrested on 1 July and was taken to a small shed which served as a torture room. The Russian soldiers put bags over their heads and threatened them, afterwards, they forcibly undressed her, groped her, and told her that they would send photos of the activity to her family members to humiliate her and them. The woman was then raped repeatedly by the commander of the unit for the next three days, while simultaneously the other Russian soldiers beat her husband in a nearby garage. The rapist would then describe the assault to the husband. She attempted suicide by hanging, but failed. Subsequently, the Russian soldiers tortured her with electric shocks and humiliated her. The Russian commander also obtained the woman's bank number and stole the funds out of her account. The woman and her husband were released on 10 July when they were dumped blindfolded by the Russians at a nearby gas station. They managed to escape to Ukrainian territory, and, after Izium was liberated in September, returned home.
