Isnโ€™t Russia also eritreas main supplier? How does this work out for Eritrea then if their source of weapons is compromised

Wow so the eritrean and Ethiopian war might actually happen I'm worried on how this'll impact us especially with refugees when we can't handle our own pop yet

Ethiopians are really serious in attacking Eritrea and capturing Assab port and overthrow Isayas, but this nigga Abiy is overreaching โ€” he needed Eritrean help against the TPLF and has failed to crush Fano so far . If this escalates, it could be bloody.

Too far away from us maybe Djibouti will see some displaced people but it doesnt concern us, if Eritrea loses it would be huge for Ethiopia and bad for us obviously, also very very bad for Djibouti which has made over 70 billions usd from Ethiopia being landlocked

Short term it would be catastrophic for Djibouti, and on the long term very bad for Somalia

No it's factually correct. Eritrea's armed forces are equal to Ethiopia on infantry, greater on tanks, greater on navy (shocker!), greater on armor, and only lacking in airpower. Also has a bigger budget.

Most important factor here is that Eritrea is not in a civil war, and can focus like 100% of their army to Ethiopia while Ethiopia will have to focus a segment of their forces against FANO and the OLA.

I mean the way he wrote it felt weird

Tigray isnt doing shit btw Abiy is cool, FANO is also too disorganized and trash to capture any big cities in Amhara, remember hes not trying to conquer Eritrea like Ethiopia was doing in 91, all he wants is a small part of Southern Eritrea even 50kms would please him, southern Eritrea is the least densely populated part of Eritrea all EDF bases are in the north

Also Eritrea is still using soviet era equipment they have a really broken economy and limited funds

Its not a civil war btw, not anymore at least, Amharas are really weak, theres more Amharas than the whole population of Somalia yet they take 2-3 towns every year, most of them are gaajo a war would make their situation even worse

low-key iโ€™m kinda confused on the whole mindset of ethiopia elites lately. Ethiopia is not suffering from a lack of sea. If theyโ€™re failing now as they claim, then itโ€™s from their own dysfunction pseudo state.

Abyi canโ€™t afford a war with Eritrea. Feels like it will be a yemen p2

@SpaceyCadet This alone should let you understand the state of their country

This 30-40,000$ car is nearly 90,000$ in Ethiopia

Imagine you have to import something, you have shipping fees, port fees, customs fees, ethiopian import fees, then you have to transport the it all the way to Addis and its even worse in the rest of the country especially the highlands, you basically cant import anything without the price doubling or quadrupling

Ethiopia needs port access and it needs it yesterday, its not optional and we'll probably see Abiy try something in the coming years

"We are surrounded by [the] worst neighbors like Eritrea and Somalia"
"We are landlocked and will remain that way"

Firstly this is false, Somalia and Eritrea do not press against Ethiopia- it's the reverse! Ethiopia is a hostile state towards these two nations, unilaterally so most of the time. Secondly Ethiopia being landlocked is on them 100%, these fools have blundered away every single opprotunity they had to have a port that it's laughable... losing all their wars with Eritrea, the Addis-backed Afar rebels in Djibouti losing to the Somalis, the Ethiopians being routed from Muqdisho and the Juba... they should just pay the port fee and move on!

Also the price of cars is not due to port fees it's due to the Ethiopian gov classifying them as a luxury good and thus taxing them heavily. Sometimes up to 200% (!!!).

Also why are you getting your knoledge from r/Ethiopia you know they be spewing the biggest lies.

"We are surrounded by [the] worst neighbors like Eritrea and Somalia"
By Somalia they probably mean instability, shabaab etc, and Eritrea is also always bad news, Im sure if they could they would take the rest of afars and tigray possibly
Ethiopia is a hostile state towards these two nations,
But this is also true tho
they should just pay the port fee and move on!
You have to see this from an Ethiopian perspective, imagine your country is stuck in this landlocked nightmare and you economy wont grow if you dont get sea access, can understand why they want it so badly

Ethiopia's problem isnt port acess its that this dude is really bad at managing an economy. He literally is constantly making the worst decisions and wasting money on beautification project becuase he has some nonsensical beliefs that this will attract investment.

Ethiopia already had a problem with falsifying statsics even before abiy. But afterwards they took it to the next level. It also doesnt help that they had a feudal culture that for a 1,000 years made them adverse to adopting technologies or new ideas. Thats nothing something that just dissappears. It also means that Ethiopia onky sees state lead investment as a means of growth and will never truly let the reigns over the economy go.

Yeah theres that also, ironically he managed to make that a bigger problem than sea access, ethiopia will remain in huge debt for the next half century at least, but it was worth it tho look at Addis Ababa today, wlhi niyada iga jabta markan waxaan arko
