Why back your biggest enemy in the current civil unrest only to hope they'll throw you a bone.

Lol they aren't discussing whether to secede along with the Somalis.

More like they're buying off these idle elders in return for temporary political support

Most likely to back the Oromo vS Somali beef...

The moment things clear up; expect things to go back to normal with Galbeed Somalis getting karbashed by TPLF every time they walk out their huts after their daily intake of raw meat.

They should take advantage of the current precarious position TPLF is in and covertly support dissidents in the army or other factions.

This meeting wasn't demanded by the ONLF but rather the Ethiopian government, Ethiopia is in a turmoil where the internet and phone connection are down while there are fightings in both amhara and oromo region, Tigray isn't going to let amhara regain their power and they are definitely not going to let the oromo rule them.

This meeting will benefit rather the ONLF side, TPLF is in a critical moment where they might be forced to push for the article 39 of the Ethiopian constitution ( By the vote of the regional state population they can secede )

This is where they want the somalis to push for it as well so they won't be alone and the case of their self determination will be stronger.

They will also tell this to other regional state that are allied to them to do it as well.

He has a lot of good points though. Haven't seen it before .

It's like if there was a coup by the left in Israel and the Palestinian leadership backed the right wing that were oppressing them.

The only rational reason why they would do that is if they sold out.

All the major businesses in the Galbeed are owned by non-Somalis.

If a Somali tries to start a decent size operation there; they get harassed by the Somali TPLF goons until they give up.

Ethiopia is on a silent civil war, yesterday towns and roads were closed due to fightings and the tplf without meles zenawi cannot survive long.

Tplf's main agenda back in the 70's was Tigray republic, there is a reason for why they put article 39 on the constitution, something which makes the amhara blood boil.

Once the tigray loses grip they will do it, and today they are telling the somalis to do the same.

This is a closed meeting, things may turn against our favor but look at tplfs position today than it was back when meles was around, i have a feeling that they will tell us to push for independence and they the tplf will sign right away.

Some Somalis wish nothing more than to see ONLF completely gone but since that isnt happening, they keep repeating that" ONLF is shambles" or " ONLF baa is dhiibtay". Truth is though, Ethiopia wouldnt keep demanding meetings with ONLF or demanding ONLF to accept Ethiopias constitution if ONLF was irrelevant. Or maybe they hope that their claims will manifest if they repeat it enough times. ONLF are clearly one of the groups the tigree dogs fear the most, mainly because of Ogaden natural resources. ONLF is still very much relevant and some of you are gonna have to accept that fact. Or dont, it wont matter either way.
