I understand your concern and we are aware of that. TPLF as a minority with zero legitimacy was forced to borrow and show some development to stay in power. Now the new administration stopped this practice since it thinks it can win elections without getting trapped in debt. It has now reversed that policy and the west is massively supporting financially the shift from china.

It is about data and knowledge. This satellite for example is an earth observatory satellite i.e. it can detect many information including where what kind of minerals are found in Ethiopia. It can assist boarder patrolling, agriculture, road contraction and many more. This is not about going to mars but getting invaluable data about your country.

China doesn't need our satellite to spy on us. They have their own. This satellite is fully controlled by Ethiopia and the data is also processed in Ethiopia. The Ethiopians can change its orbit and many more. It is truly Ethiopian owned.
