Ethiopia government lists banned Somali media agencies

The only good thing cagjar did is banning these TVs

Cagjar can't ban any media, he doesn't have that legislative authority. It was a federal government decision and they told the Somali Regional government that those media outlets are not allowed. Don't spin it to make it look as if though Cagjar made that decision because he didn't.

Why would the Federal government give a shit about these Somali TVs. Cagjar has personal vendetta against his opposionists. First he was focused on limiting & arresting onlf journalist in the region Now he’s targeting the Non Ogaden tv pages that report on his corruption.

Did you read the news report? It states clearly on the 2nd line that the decree was made by the federal media agency called the Ethiopian Media Authority. That's the federal agency that controls the media in the whole country. Cagjar has no say in this whatsoever. Read it again:

Where did you think this idea came from? It first started in the region and then was passed down to the federal media agency to get approved.

it’s very simple if only these pages were banned in just the Somali region, but cagjar wants it banned from the entire country that’s why he sent his complaints to Adis Ababa to get his orders passed.

This is not the first time cagjar has done this. Now this time he’s attacking his media
critics using the federal government’s seal of approval

It literally states on the letter that we're fulfilling the decree ordered by the Ethiopian Media Authority. Regional leaders have absolutely no authority in banning or allowing any media agency. That's not how it works. Only a federal agency can make those decisions. No matter how much you would like to spin this to make it look like Cagjar or any regional President have that kind of authority, its just not the case. Somali regional Presidents are beholden completely to the federal government. A decision like this cannot come from a regional authority.

Any type of Somali media isn't a source for correct information because they're subject to their own biases and tribal dictates so what they say is of no importance. You need to learn what the pecking order is when it comes to power in Ethiopia. No media agency can be banned by a regional President because they're power is limited and checked by the federal government. Today if a federal government soldier in Jigjiga kills someone, he can only be tried in a federal system. Regional administrations are not allowed to prosecute him. There is a clear division of power and authority. No regional leader can ban any sort of media because that level of power is only at the discretion of a federal government dictate. Its absolutely impossible in Ethiopia's system for Cagjar or Amy other regional President to make that sort of decision. Don't be fooled by Somali media.

Dude, you don't think he can make a recommendation to them to get rid of those media outlets? Is that out of the realm of possibility?

Hypothetically speaking he could, yeah I get that. He could but he can't enforce his own decision as he doesn't have that power. That's my argument.

Well of course, your correct in your argument.

In any case, I don't assume the Ethiopian media authority has got a clue what Somali media houses are up to and what positions they take, so I'm assuming the regional president made a recommendation to get them banned.

Very sad, Somalia is a free market country. Anyone can make money whereas that place is an amhara dump. All the university jobs are being taken by them, same with telecommunication companies, airport etc
Somalia is riddled with monopolies and unfair competition. Have you tried to do business there?

Ethiopia federal government generally has media law, but Cagjar DDS government selects which media to ban.
DDS is one enforces and decides which media works in DDs.
