Erdogan refuses to meet with US envoy to Ankara — media

"Our doors are closed for him," the Turkish leader concluded

TASS, April 3. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said his doors are now closed for US Ambassador to Ankara Jeff Flake following the diplomat’s meeting with Kemal Kilicdaroglu, the presidential candidate from the main opposition Republican People's Party.
"What is Biden’s envoy doing? He goes and meets with Mr. Kemal. Shame on you, use your brain. You are an ambassador. Your interlocutor here is the president. How will you ask for a meeting with the president after this?" the Star newspaper quoted him as saying on Sunday. "Our doors are closed for him <...>. Why? Let him know his limits," the Turkish leader concluded.
Turkey’s presidential election will take place on May 14 on the same day as the parliamentary election. The previous presidential election was held on June 24, 2018 with Erdogan winning with 52.6% of the vote.

the US ambassador met with the opposition leader.... this is a yet another example of why the US is such a menace in terms of foreign policy.... I understand that Erdogan is not one of the khulafa rashideen but... he is at least trying in some degree to make the country more Islamic and less in the direction of Ataturk.... and so what does the US do? the US ambassador meets with Erdogan's opposition... don't tell me that's not what it's about, I think it's very clear given how the US operates...
