Must be not enough to make real money off or the French would have raped them for it a century ago. French and Belgium were among the worst of Europeans that came to Africa the way they treated the locals. I never heard of the mistreating people in Djibouti much but that’s probably because Djibouti doesn’t have natural resources on a large scale that Europeans value

If you look at the stats Djibouti isn’t doing all that good with around 60-70% of the population living in poverty and their capital city doesn’t really look much like one considering it’s not a failed state and hasn’t been in civil war for decades like Somalia. You would think Djibouti would have been on par when it comes to development like other East African countries like Ethiopia or Kenya but then you have to remember Djibouti has a very small population it’s basically a city state but still no excuse for lack of development which can probably be explained by Djibouti having a dictator for the last 20+ years who steals all of the countries money for his personal wealth
