Epicanthic folds in Somalis

This crease/fold on the inner eye (not to be mistaken with mono lids)

I have it and so do some of my siblings and my dad

The type I have is the Epicanthus Tarsalis, but to a slightly lesser extent as you can see most of my eyelid

The fold as a generic trait is typically seen in colder regions to protect the eyes e.g. north east asians

It also appears in Khoisan who experience a lot of direct sun

My assumptions for its appearance in a full-blood Somali is due to
1) my nomadic heritage (2.5 generations back) aka to protect from sun and sand
2) Nilotic heritage since it’s allegedly also common for them
3) A hypothesis for the fold is that it disappears as a child develops a nose bridge, while I have a medium protruding nose, but it’s small on my face which might explain why it’s still there?? A very doubtful idea though

It has been noted in Cushtic people before, but I haven’t really seen this being discussed as a topic
