Elopement in the community

I never understood why Somali families reject the spouse someone brings home due to Qaabil.
Elopement is very common and accepted in our community lol and is usually what happens.

Runaway marriages are usually not because the parents disapprove of the qabil of the husband but often due to the bride price being inadequate. These types of marriages are somewhat uncommon as well. Love marriages are recent in human history period. Marriage has long been for social, political or economic reasons. Personally, I wouldn't accept someone my parents reject. They likely have a legitimate reason. If people expect their parents support in child rearing than it would be unwise to do something they disapprove of.

My ayeeyo Mj ran away with an impoverished Habar Yonis/Isaaq police/Askaari.

The results are a generation of imbreeds. I do not recommend it.

Unless your parents are sociopaths/degenerates, you should never marry someone they do not approve of. Not just your parents, but also consider the opinion of your siblings and other kin who are near and dear. Your loved ones are not blinded with lust or infatuation, so they can see the person for who they are, they are more rational than the person in the relationship.

Successful Marriages are not built on lust but true compatibility, this also accounts for Islamic values, education level, ambition, manners and culture.

When you run away from your parents, you become vulnerable and isolated, even if your spouse is a good person, you will end up resenting each other and placing too much responsibility on them.

You need to think of your future kids when you do this. If you run away and elope you’re cutting your children off from your family completely. Sometimes it’s the right decision but it’s definitely a big one
