Apparently she can't sue them as an elected official.

Ilhan has Salvadorians in her constituency. So when people want to raise concerns with the US State Department, they go to their representatives in the US Congress. Therefore, the people from that country in her district are coming to her to raise awareness, and Ilhan is always preparing for the next election. She would jump to the opportunity, send her letters and tweets to the White House and the State Department, and would demand an action.

Folks, Ilhan turns every request from any group and controversy into an opportunity. She is a shrewd politician, and since her district has a diverse groups of people, there she is always responding to their needs.

Remember Somalis are less than 10% in her district; 70% are white liberals. The Orientals and Hispanics also have a sizable presence. This is why she champions issues that favor them.

I just wanted to add the common exclamation "The Ummah has failed the Palestinians!". also parallels exactly what you guys are talking about. Who's we, the ummah? Most of the ummah is undergoing its own social, economic & political struggles within its own borders. How can Somali or Bangladesh for example step up to liberate Palestine when our hands are tied.

We all know the real culprit is the wealthy Gulf Arabs who let their own Arab brethren bleed for 70+ years. Specifically, Saudi Arabia with their consistent shukaansi with the military-industrial complex. But they frame it as a fault of the ummah altogether because having to face the fact that they cannot mobilise efficiently for our Palestinian brothers and sisters is too much for them to bear.
