Is eygpt that secular that they would make a law prohibiting the wearing of niqab in school?
Seems like it. This has been a trend ever since the gov stamped out political Islam but i didnโ€™t think it went this far

Not surprised. You can't even wear a beard in that country without being put on a watchlist. It's usually Muslim countries who have the most anti-niqab/hijab laws, ironically. In Tajikistan, for example, the hijab is completely banned. Of course, you'll never hear the media talking about this stuff though.

I think in Tajikistan you will get in trouble simply for having a beard. and I have noticed as well that the media is very quiet on this.

azhar has lost credibility, it was once so great. Niqabs arenโ€™t necessary but to outright ban them isnโ€™t setting a good precedent. Banning something the women of ahlul bayt wore is not a good look.

Theyโ€™d need some relevancy for anyone to give a f*ck
:damedamn:

does the media cover countries because they're "relevant" or are countries "relevant" because the media covers them? I think it's the second. I think the media plays a big role in making people think what is relevant and what isn't.

look at Joseph Kony for example... he was very talked about I think in 2012... now forgotten... same exact guy, just the media coverage changed

In a world where women are free to do what they want- or travel alone anywhere- niqaab is overindulgence. Its also not practical- it can be hazardous, u can trip or fall from the excess garmets.

I'm gonna ban my wife from wearing the hijab once I get her outta somalia. I characterize the hijab as a non-binding cultural thing for Arab women.
