The european court of justice has justice ruled that it is not discriminatory to ban the veil at work. This goes back to after two muslim ladies one in france and one in Belgien were kicked out of work for wearing the veil.

Finally a good move, will somalia do the same one day?

It was an interesting case and principle case. Both genereal council made two conflicts conclusions.

One position argued that companies should be allowed to fire reasoning that it is equivalent to wearing a t-shirt with jesus on it, and that companies should be allowed to be responsive to the public mood and accommodate accordingly, setting the stage for further discrimination.

The second position argued passionately that companies shouldn't be allowed to fire women carrying veils as it breaks with precedent set in discrimination law and allowing companies to follow the public mood, which a opposite judgement would allow.

The former one over partly due to the political situation of the EU and the EU court diminishing democratically legitimacy. It is VERY rare that two conflicting proposals are proposed.

It should also be seen in a context, where national supreme court such as the Danish have begun conflicting with the EU court and causing a constitutional crisis as both court claim superiority.
