For those who are not strong at Somali or don't have the time to watch the whole video:

This guy was a former Somaliland army commander that left Somaliland for Puntland a few month ago. This has caused a lot of euphoria amongst reer Puntland. In the video he talks to the Warsangeli Diaspora. Here are many interesting statements of this guy:

1) we knew Puntland from the time it was founded till the recent time we left Somaliland. If we would have thought there is anything good at that place, we would have already left. But we knew that they won't do anything and wouldn't benefit that region (eastern Sanaag) at all.

2) The people that should have done something, we trusted and were the loudest ( most happiest after we left SL for PL ) are the diaspora of the Warsangeli tribe.

3) We are in Puntland for 4 month now and we came upon what he have already thought about Puntland. We said that if our salary comes to late - and we talked with you (Warsangeli diaspora) in the chats and via telefon about it- to conclude we thought the people that would take this responsibility (paying salaries) are the Warsangeli disapora, but what we have from them the last 4 months are just words.

4) Many of you said that we gave you honour and took away from you the shame ( because you are not longer under Isaaq rule), but we (the higher ranked leaders that left SL for PL) are already sentenced to death . As for the the honour and goodness you found (because we left SL for PL) - i think if you don't do anything (pay salaries), you will find a situation worse than the one you fled from.

These are just a few examples, but to conclude what he said in the whole 10 minutes:

-the reason he was part of SL is because there was no Somali gov (since 1991) and this was good for the peace in the region.
- PL doesn't invest at all in eastern Sanaag.
-The commander hates Isaaq, but believes you can better share with them than Majeerteen.
- PL doesn't pay it's soldiers.
-They left SL army for Puntland, because the Diaspora of Warsangeli heavily supported this to take part in FKD in europe/america. Warsans back home doesn't care at all for PL.
-He threatens his people could even join SL fully.

Believe it or not - SL and PL politicians benefit both from instability in the 'disputed areas'. As long as the instability in those regions continuous, both and can justify their corruption and incompetence by telling the people they will conquer the disputed area. It is a well known strategy of politicans, to distract people. Let's not be naive, i would even go so far and say both sides have a gentle agreement about the border wars.

If you blame anyone from those regions, Dhulos and Warsan politicians who are paid by SL and PL should be blamed not the poor people. They also highly benefit from that war and support this. They are more loyal to SL and PL (paycheck) than to their people. I don't even like any northern Harti politician in SL anymore. They don't care at all for their people.

Militia is where we should invest. We need to buy arms to give them and pay off the soldiers to control the lands. We can take over Sool in days if we got serious. The civilian population would be on our side and there would be no protests and demonstrations that the Jeegans get in lasanood. Forget about reer budhoddle, their allergic to issaqs. Reer Hagar are real daroods. We should invest something in budhodle since their landlocked. No need for a militia there.
