the reality is quite different.
the somali peninsula only lost independance for a couple of decades during colonialism ( we also waged the largest anti colonial resictance) our people were true warriors.
we never bend the knee to the carabs we used to send them aid when they were in need.
we also raid their slave strongholds on the swahili coast.
the arabs were never strong enough to conquer us one on one meaning not the khalifa but their independent kingdoms even the omani one never conquered any somali territory.
The early Islamic expansions only conquered Egypt and the Maghreb in Africa before moving on to Spain.
They never reached under the Sahara with an army much less East Africa. They only traded with the region with goods and slaves.

There are documented cases of legal slavery years before him. Anthony Johnson was also a former slave himself so it doesn't disproof the fact that white people were the main slave owners in the americas. No. Somalis were never colonised by arabs.
The only arabs we had were traders in Mogadishu, Zeila, Barawe etc and they were not part of a khilaafa.
Zeila has been under ottoman influence and the south has been under omani influence in thd 19th century but at that point somalis were muslim for a really long time so ethnic somalis were never enslaved. It's possible that individual somalis may have been enslaved at some point in 7-8th century but there is zero evidence of somalis being subject to mass enslavement.
All people have been slaves at some point but when it comes to somalis we experienced slavery less than european whites (spanish, italians but also some french and brits) who were often enslaved and sold by northafrican pirates for centuries.

@Ebuo . Somalis don’t look Arabic. You can make that argument with the Sudanese or Berbers. Berbers are kinda tricky because while they was a lot of intermixing between the two, we share a common ancestor. I think Somalis are distantly related to certain Arabs.
