Pretty sure this girl is just talking bs for retweets. I am fairly certain that her mother did not arrive in the U.S as a refugee and make a conscious decision to not learn the English language. There are so many valid reasons as to why some of our parents/elders don't speak English and a refusal to assimilate is definitely not the most legitimate one. Very poor tweet.
