Palestinians and their Arab neighbors made it clear that they don't want the displacement of civilians from their land knowing that Israel would not allow them go back just like the 48&67 refugees who were denied and got stuck in camps in Lebanon Jordan and Syria including the west bank and Gaza for generations and they don't another Nakba of Palestinians.

On your point about the Black September it wasn't as you and many others portraited Palestinians vs Jordanians when one of the main instigators of that event was a Christian Jordanian leader of DFLP Palestinian faction with many Jordanian sympathizers of Palestinian cause joining on the side of the various PLO factions while there was also Palestinians from the West Bank on the side of the state for example the head of the intelligence was Palestinian as during that time Jordan claimed West Bank and East Jerusalem as theirs, so it's not like a black and white situation as you would have Imagined.
