Even he admitted it's a low turn out arguing only a small section of the population turn out for elections in most democracy. His got a point there, if u have 100% turn out, it's clearly false like SL nonsense. He also needs to acknowledge other parties didn't participate and bring out their voters.

SL claimed 100% turn out for 1 million voters, unless they set a new voter record worldwide with 100% voter turn out, war waxoodi waa 'spreadsheet wax ku qor'.

Only 20-30% registered is my view becuz the other parties are not there. The other parties sincad/mideeye should be 30% each and 10% others

This is not what they mean by turnout in western countries :mjlol: it’s voter registration.

Most countries have 95%+ registration as it is done over many months and years. And all it takes to be eligible to vote is to prove residency and identity. Basically in simpler terms, to exists

Your turnout which is the ‘how many eligible voters (those registered) turn out to vote on the day of the election’. This will be even lower

Why are you lying?

As of Feb 2021 Somaliland has 1,065,847 registered voters but in the last elections in May 2021 only 694,917 voted.

That's not 100%

They’re registering to vote for city councils. Not governors, not state parliament, not presidency, etc. If you want hard hitting facts on PL’s pop. wait for the 2024 parliamentary election.

I will add that this will probably increase the interest but voter registration will be the same. Anyone who’s registered for the locals will be voting for the presidential and anyone who doesn’t bother to register now will have to go through the same process they would now. There won’t be different electoral rolls and registration.

HSM’s view
It’s of course a goal now given HSM wants 1m1v elections. I listened to a PL MP and he said HSM said to him ‘We’re the majority’ When dismissing their claim to being more important than other states. If anyone wants to fix this imbalance it’s HSM

That’s false, TPEC announced and has the funding for two separate registrations and elections: municipal and parliamentary. It’s assumed the bulk of people were to register during the municipal but the door isn’t closed on them if they wanna participate in the parliamentary.

I’m used to the U.K. elections where registration process is the same lol. If you’re on the electoral roll for the general election then you’re on the roll for all the local government elections. You have to follow the same process of providing identity and residency.

I don’t think there’ll be Presidential elections in PL so you might have to check that one.

Regardless like I said it’ll increase interest (turnout in election day) but I doubt it will increase the registration numbers much.

SL having 1 million registration and PL being 40% of SL is pretty reasonable tbh.

4 questions

Don't the parliament elect the president?

Has there been a constitution change to amend this?

Did you just confirm there will a parliament election voted by the population in 2024?

This will then be followed by a presidential election voted by the population in 2024?

I suspect SL’s books are cooked, there’s no room for that with PL’s elections given the # of donors and orgs involved.

I posted a thread with VP Karaash confirming there won’t be a general election. Just locals. He said there wouldn’t be enough time to organise one by Jan24.

Similar statements have been made by Gaas, Faroole and many political heavyweights

HSM’s view
Lol give puntland credit low turnout means numbers aren’t being inflated and corrupt especially with biometric information and percentage on catching people registering twice. Also no major battle or loss of life during process which is surprise in Somalia. Do you think HSM can pull this off in xamar? You and Dr osman need to stop hating

Why not? The FGS is already set to roll out national ID. This will make the process a lot easier. PL isn’t the first in ‘Somalia’ to do this either. SL has.

Banadir is a more urbanised state and people are used to carrying ID with them and each degmo is distinct. It’ll need external funding however as Banadir has a close to 5 million population.

TIL Xamar is as big as Rio de Janeiro
Come on man, yaqshid has a 300k population and this was 2014.

Look at these figures from a decade ago. It’s expanded a lot more since as way more people have moved from HS and GM to Xamar.
