I feel so bad for the people of Congo. May Allah protect the vulnerable. This is what scares me most when people say Somalia has untapped resources. We are so divided and poor we could easily be the new Congo.

The translator in the documentary was born the year the DRC gained independence from Belgium and he witnessed countless mineral based conflicts and was also affected by the Rwandan genocide. His wife was dragged outside his house by the interhamwe and he had to pay them money so they could kill her with bullets instead of a machete.

The documentary also interviews local miners that are systemically exploited and sell minerals worth $100/kg for a couple dollars
