Berbera is the main northern Somali port and has been for over a century+. Bosaso has no history and Berbera was the main source of income for Somali Republic not bosaso.

They only upgraded their port now. The soviets upgraded Berbera port back in the late 60s early 70s. It was the main source of domestic income for the Somali Republic due to the exports of livestock and other things
