That's kind of typical, POC punch down on each other. There was this communist Moroccan feminist on Twitter who had her account banned and was kicked out of her organization for her racist comments. One is a still picture with the face blurred out, while the other was a young girl making blood-curdling wails with a face beaten black. In addition to the fact that troll accounts were celebrating it.

But I agree with your premise. Those troll accounts wanted to stigmatize Somali me; they succeeded.
