Dog barking

There was a dog barking hysterically on my street. I assume it has been driven away now. It has been barking non stop for the past 5 minutes, is it in danger? Should i have helped out? It was not an aggressive bark, it sounded more like a cry for help. And instead of going and helping the dog i decided to finish off reading what i was reading. 4 minutes have passed since then and i feel so guilty, the poor dog has now been driven away and will probably continue to bark through every neighbourhood and no one will so much as come outside and take a look.

I would advise you to approach with caution, there has been stories of the stray dog barking at humans to garner attention to their pups who are in danger or something that is out of the ordinary.
