both countries/islands are actually really close to Somalia and they used to be a part of east Africa (until they broke off). And both countries are in east Africa. Both islands used to have a close relationship with other East African Nations.
Tbh both islands are incredibly beautiful. They are even One of the the most beautiful country in Africa
like somalia, they have their own cultures and can’t be compared to other African cultures (even their traditional clothes and food are unique on their own):

Mauritians mostly practice Hinduism and Mauritius alone has the biggest population of Hindus in Africa and the 3rd biggest Hindus in the world. Islam is a largely practiced religion in Mauritius too.
