Does anyone else not want a wedding (or a very small one)?

Honestly I’ve never been the type to want a big wedding. I lowkey have social anxiety and the thought of hundreds of people with their eyes all focusing on me makes me want to break into a sweat. Way too nerve wracking. Plus I have extended family living all over the world and coordinating flights so that they could all be in the same location sounds like a logistical nightmare.

If it was halal I would probs elope with hubby and tell everyone after. It looks so romantic with just the two of you.

I also like destination weddings with just super close family and friends. But I’ve never seen Somalis/Muslims do it

I want a wedding because I want to have the whole somali wedding experience but it will be very small, 70 people max. Habaryars will come to your wedding, eat the food you pay for and shit on your makeup/your dress/your body/your husband/your qaabil, etc etc etc.

I want my wedding day to be with people who I love and who I know love me, no one else. Then that money saved will go towards a big honeymoon, i would like to visit so many countries.

An actual somali wedding in its full length almost feels like a religious ritual. It has a number of stages that might span for a few days. As a child i was allowed into the female section which in my eyes back then doubled the length of the wedding from my perspective. The buranbur henna maris the shashsar. The somali wedding almost felt like a never ending festival you were either watching an old wedding at home, attend them or finally having wedding of your own.
