I understood it a little. My mom speaks it. Can’t speak it myself tho. Af Maay is not another language, just a different dialect. It also has far more localized vocabulary than Af-Maxaa Tiri.

Af Maay is not a dialect of Af-Soomaali (Af-Maxaa). It's a separate but closely related language. Sort of like Portuguese and Spanish. Somali proper is the dialects spoken by the four main tribes. Isaaq, Hawiye, Dir and Darood.
