It is, its a Saudi custom and pushed upon Muslim countries who could not fight back against the spread of WahabismI've always wondered and wanted to make a thread on it, but itsn't the face covering jilbaab just a Cultural Custom from the Saudis rather than anything since you never saw these things 25 years ago and it's very recent adoption.

All of these Arab customs need to go. We've had our own Islamic culture and traditions for centuries and we should return to that. There needs to be a strong effort for revival of our culture and traditions pre-civil war once Al-Shabab is purged.Ofc jilbabs only got popular recently.
Nah turks are different when it comes to people dressed like religious Arabs. We aint going that farAs long as when this is implemented you guys dont become like turks and get onto us jilbaab ones
im joking but fr i wouldnt dress like this but i would love to see a cultural revival

As long as we have the freedom to dress like our great grandparents and the generations before them used to dress, that would be a good start and then it will continue to normalize from there.I agree with this. I hope more somalis end up wearing their cultural clothes

I havent but if Hargeisa started the process then that's good news. Hopefully it continues to spread and become normalized again.I’m not sure if you have seen how girls dress in the evenings when they go out in Hargeisa.
