It will be the end for Somalia? think about if they take control of our port (Allah forbid) which will be for 50 years wouldn't that be enough time to plan in annexing the Northern region of Somalia? this will give excuses for Ethiopians to migrate to Somalia in mass route because their military leaders are all there in the North. They will slowly assimilate into our clans through marriage and what not further plotting their annexation. Haven't we learnt from Palestine. Scary times ahead of us. How long till we get either the doomed news or the celebrating news.
Its a critical point for sure. Whats worth noting is that the area designated for the port is in Awdal region, and they are no longer interested in the somaliland project as a result.
Itd be a different story if the people who live on the land were in favour, but they arent. The international community has made clear yesterday their stance: "we respect soverignty but we hope its solved with dialogue" aka "we dont give a f*ck whats going on down there we have bigger fires to tend to"
Any constructive dialogue from the fgs is a concession to sl legitimacy, sovthats unlikely.
Its gonna be a military confrontation in Awdal imo and its a question of how much the fgs can and is willing to help.
And even if ethiopia wins and occupied the territory, their stated goal of "building a navy" is a dream, you cant build a navy in a hostile region (similar to how they couldnt drill oil in ogaden because of attacks)
