Do you think Ancient Civilisations existed but were wiped out by Allah's punishment?

We know that many prophets were sent to every nation but those who refused to submit to Allah were wiped out.

Allah, may He be exalted, sent messengers to every nation and He stated that they came one after another, as He says (interpretation of the meaning):

“Then We sent Our messengers in succession, every time there came to a nation their messenger, they denied him, so We made them follow one another (to destruction), and We made them as ahadith (the true stories for mankind to learn a lesson from them). So away with a people who believe not” [al-Muminun 23:44]

“Verily! We have sent you with the truth, a bearer of glad tidings, and a warner. And there never was a nation but a warner had passed among them” [Fatir 35:24].

And messengers We have mentioned to you before, and messengers We have not mentioned to you, - and to Musa (Moses) Allah spoke directly” [an-Nisa 4:163-164].

Now, when I look at those ancient civilization theories and how much society have advanced in the last mere of 100 years, even when most people lived in the same lifestyle as our ancestors until the mid 20th century, I can't help but feel that they were real but they were among those nations that got wiped out so that could explain why explorers always happen to find ancient ruins and artifacts from excavation or in odd locations.

plus, humans have existed for so long, I refuse to believe we were so stupid all along, and suddenly became smart in the last 200 years.

Think of it this way, if a cataclysmic event happened today, like an asteroid that destroyed everything humans have built and killed everyone, and only few thousand people survived. It would take them forever just to survive. They would have to start from scratch to rebuild, and it could take thousands of years to get back to where we are today, and by the time they get to this point, no traces would be left of our current civilizations leading them to believe they are the first civilization.
