The Norwegian model requires the utmost self perseverance even the Gulf Arabs who purchased Lambos and Bugatti's could not do it and now are running around to diversify away from oil.

For Somalia to follow the Norwegian model = instant not only an African success story but global success story, no tribal wars, complete peace aka top 20 in the world etc.

I can do that but the Somalis in Somalia? I don't think so.
I think the main problem is just poverty which leads to crime and violence trust me when money and jobs gets in the crime rate will drop

Better for the Turks to extract. A lot of these western oil companies have their own mercenaries and engage in regime change. Look what Shell was caught doing to Nigeria for example, encouraging governmental corruption and bribery. They would trigger another civil war in Somalia for fun and pay off cronies and militias if it meant they could take advantage of the situation. Ordinary Nigerians probably don't see a dime of the profits.

If the deal is 30% for 10 years, I think we can deal with that.

Most Somalis who talk about this negatively do not know anything about the Oil and Gas industry.

Nigeria for example was not even a country and was made up by the British because of it's resources.

The Gulf countries had oil contracts that spanned 40+ years with American companies when Oil was first drilled. 10 years is nothing.

I can tell that those people crying about Turkish "colonization" don't read or research, and we could have gotten a much worse deal with a western company. Much worse. If Shell or Exxon were involved, we would have been screwed. We would be extracting billions in oil and still be dirt poor. So far, Turkey has been brotherly towards us, which is more than I can say for the whole west and the gulf arabs, esp the Saudis and UAE. Let's give it a chance.

We do have signed contracts with American companies actually LOL signed a year or two ago. Somalia is so massive, no single company can explore it all. The problem is the Somali Gov have not published the terms so we do not know. I can only hope it is not retarded.

They signed a leasehold for oil blocks whose rights were sold in 1970s, they paid rent for it for 30 years it was Exxon Mobil and paid 1.7 million for basically just renting the oil blocks turkey can’t touch that, they have to explore their own oil blocks and that will take half a billion

Dumb question but is the 30% only for exploration or does it include drilling too? I've seen some fear that 50% could be added just for drilling

How did the Saudis do it when they weren't in a much better position than us since they just finished their tribal wars
They hade 40+ plus year contracts and minority shares until they could buy back or wait for contracts to finish.

Somalia is one of the most corrupt countries in the world, this won't end well
Hopefully it’s 30% Turkey, 30% our corrupt government and 40% makes its way to the people through jobs and programs. This leaves room for so much corruption but it’s acceptable in my view. Every injiniir xildhibaan will now suddenly have an overseas mansion.

Yeah that's why we didn't trust the west in the first place to extract our oil just look at Syria they occupy the Oil fields and take it by force look at Nigeria they milk their oil and starve their citizens same goes for Angola why would Somalia trust the west there is no trustable ally except Turkey

If only he accepted that we would've been oil rich country by now and the united states would've prevented the civil war it's was one of Siad Barre biggest L
we would be stable but weak , US would protect barre and he would be more dictator than b4, it would also be gateway for more detrimental mining by later chinese 'allies'
