Do you help random Somali people?

Yesterday I literally took 30 minutes out of my day to help this older lady find a place, and drove her there she didn't speak any English please help elderly Somalis you see out.

You did the right thing and she definitely appreciated that.

People from one ethnic group don't look similar for absolutely no reason; you're essentially just a group of extended families.

Yes, without question. I too had a similar experience walking around Marylebone with this elderly habaryar for this doctor visit. She goes on to tell me, she has three grown up sons. Some sons they are. Either of them couldn't take time out for their mum?

I do & they usually help me. This Somali boy helped me I was hella lost, I appreciated that.

Are there still ‘Somalinimo’ amongst the young generation? Usually it’s the elders or the first generation Somalis who help each other.

We fobs don't like the title of this thread, the title should be: "How much do you enjoy helping random Maryooley".

I always go out of my way for helping my people.

Last eid, I went into the mall to buy my nephew a video game he wanted for eid. While I was in the store paying for it, a Somali guy came in and asked for money. It was really random and I was in a rush. Although I entertained him for a while. He started getting more and more desperate. Like I told him I had no cash at hand, and he tells me to go to the cash point or get cash back from the store. The store I was at didn't offer cash back and I wasn't in the mood to walk around at the expense of my convenience. I ended up asking him how much he wanted from me exactly and he said £20. Which was like the same price as my nephew's video game. I got so angry because it was the most a stranger had ever asked of me. And this Somaliguy was phat, he was an eyaal suuq and just looked so unhygienic. I told me no. And left. Should I be feeling bad for that?

It shames me to say this, but Africans are generally ungrateful because people lack emotional intelligence in our wretched continent; my dear late father brought over dozens of family members to Australia and some turned around and bad mouthed him...

..And this is precisely why I keep people at arms length; I pleaded with my father to designate and treat his 6th cousin (that rumour mongered) as an enemy, but he responded by saying that 'only God can judge.'

I've made it abundantly clear to my extended family (that being an Atheist), I'm absolutely under no obligation to turn the other cheek and that I will respond to attacks each and every time.

Not really, sounds like he has an addiction. I would only buy food for these kinds of people, I'm not gonna support their habit though.

Yeah, I was wearing shorts, and a tee, for a moment I had to contemplate the prospect of getting robbed by another Somali. He seemed really angry when I refused to give him the money. It was the sense of entitlement too. He was a young man still, perfectly healthy besides his being overweight. Why not humble himself and get a job, he could probably make that money in an hour or two and not have to ask random strangers. A lot of our brothers in the hood lack a humbleness about life. Theres absolutely nothing wrong with working a job and earning a halal income...
