Do you guys think someone like Ataturk would benefit Somalia?

In my personal opinion, Somalis definitely need a dictator to control them. The western system would never work on us because we would still find a cheat code to do whatever we want & wherever we want.

Ataturk made Turkey an incredible powerful country and really gave it a “renaissance”. Would someone like that benefit Somalia a lot? Why and why not?

Most modern, successful nations industrialized and initially developed under more or less autocratic rule. Britain, South Korea, Japan... the list goes on. "Democracy" or rather Republicanism is more preferable once you've built up infrastructure, stable institutions and a healthy and educated populous. The Chinese, and frankly even Khaleejis, have been trying to say this to the West for a long time regarding developing nations (that "benevolent" dictators are the key):

But I feel the issue, in this modern and highly technological world with so many outside players allied with said hypothetical dictators or dictatorial parties like in China, is that it will become incredibly difficult to ever depose them and enter a more democratic era. So Somalia and the rest of the Horn will develop but we could end up as stuck under autocratic rule as the Chinese.

Do you really want that?

Ataturk wouldn’t have lasted in the modern world. He had numerous uprisings during his rule that were violently put down and he deliberately tried to wage war against peoples religious beliefs.

Do you seriously think the EU and NATO would sit idly by when tens of thousands get mowed to death in their own backyard.

But the difference between us and those countries is that they all were willing to work together wether they liked each other or not. Most Somalis don’t even want to think about working with another qabil, let alone with any other Somalis.

the Chinese are still rising despite the fact that they are shit people walaal. But their dictator (mao zedong) really did a umber to them and their economy.

a democratic ruling wouldn’t work in our life time

Used to be you could just steamroll through pesky rebels but now the Gaalo send the peace corps, Bono, and CNN & VICE reporters. Not to mention your own folks recording you with these damned smart phones and Facebooking your war crimes. Can't a nigga despot anymore in peace, bro?

@Periplus has condemned Ataturk more than he has condemned ISIS and Al Shabab (who affect him way more personally). I think that is extremely concerning. He gets a hard on going after Ataturk. It's like he has a pop up notification on his phone or something whenever Ataturk's name is brought up.

How many pro-AS and ISIS threads have you seen?

You should blame yourself for doing such a good job as a moderator by banning terrorist sympathisers that I don’t have to speak out on it.

I don't ban terrorist sympathizers. I would only ban if they were plotting a terror attack on here. Plenty of terrorist sympathizers on this forum.

Name one regular poster.

That Mexican.

Many here also deny the Uighur genocide by communist China. I think it would great if you dedicated as much of your efforts tackling extremism and genocide denialism and forget about the secular Muslim Ataturk. It's not your responsibility to of course but it only makes sense since you have a rabid dislike of Ataturk. You should be balanced or otherwise people will think you sympathize with people that are the total opposite of Ataturk's spectrum, especially considering you never criticize them. We are supposed to take your word for it but actions speak louder.

Bro do you want me to link the amount of threads in which I have went back and forth with him.

I have routinely called out his antics and his attitudes to China.

Please go look for a strawman elsewhere

I just wish you were more critical of ISIS in the mountains in your native Puntland than you were of a long dead secularist Muslim who did immense good for his people and was from thousands of miles away.

Well if you didn’t know, the main reason I’ve been mentioning him recently is because I’m in Turkey.

I’m so confused by that Mexican. He once had the audacity to talk about our issues as Somali people and I ultimately karbashed him. Who does that Ajnabi think he is?

No we would lose our identity.
There wouldn’t be a prosperous Somalia, they would only be a Somali spin on western culture.

We would be like the Japanese, a slowly dying aging society who is well known for being fetishised by creepy white dudes.

I would hate to live in a world where the only difference between societies is language and food.We need to have our own values as well.
