Rape victims don’t live in pain. Thoughts about the event can be slowly forgotten through therapy. They don’t live in pain, only bad thoughts haunt them.

Also, I doubt the thoughts are detrimental. Human nature doesn’t allow such an event to be permanent. You go to therapy, find comfort in your family, and continue on in life with all the distress no longer present.

A murdered person might’ve had a good life, might’ve been successful, might have been a child or elderly individual, willing to look on in life (an live well for the remainder if elderly).

Not everyone is suicidal. People have Precious lives that no-one can ever repay them.
