

Throughout history and all societies the working classes (ie, farmers, merchants, shoe shiners, coal miners etc) were definitely looked down upon….. but never to the extent where ppl would be convinced that the work such individuals “do” isn’t worthy of yielding enough to support yourself/family. Work was WORK
now compare that to the modern western world where it’s a matter of debate whether people who work as grocery store clerks, janitors, etc deserve enough money to live
