Other languages have the same word for many things with the only distinguisher being context or tonal. This is common.

Aad could originally mean "to exeed/increase" in its proto form.

Aad as in "very" could have become adverb in contexts were it lost its original formalized context. So common dialect reduced to aad. So the original meaning remained despite removing the word before or after.

So those two contexts are technically separate words that stem from the same root yet underwent different stages. I think 'xagaas aad' was its original context but the word aad as in 'very' is closer to the root meaning of the word aad (exeed/increase) itself but since our language has changed so much throughout the milliena, "go there exeedingly/increasingly" is not the same as "go there" that we use it for today.

That is my suugo-science, at least.
